Lay the decoy in your yard or hang upside down from a tree. The unwanted crows or magpies might come have a funeral for the "dead bird", but then they will leave leave the area so as to not end up with the same fate as the decoy!
Note: Crow and Magpie decoys should be taken inside after a few days or the live birds will figure out that it isn't real. Then put it outside again if they return. You can also move it around the yard every week or two to keep tricking the crows/magpies.
